Urban-Air Port selects Osprey as preferred EV charging provider for its AAM network

Urban-Air Port (UAP) will provide onsite electric vehicle (EV) charging as part of its non-aeronautical revenue, having selected Osprey, one of the UK’s leading charge point operators, to provide charging for vehicles at its vertiport sites.

During UAP’s three-week Air One event at Coventry UK, Osprey provided several stations which will form a key part of UAP’s non-aeronautical revenue delivered through its digital platform and accompanying app.

Osprey will provide a multi-modal hub infrastructure of rapid chargers, powered by electricity generated from 100% renewable sources at a number of sites throughout the UK that accept contactless payments integrated into the UAP app.

UAP founder and executive chairman Ricky Sandhu said: “Our goal is to provide ground infrastructure for eVTOL cargo and passenger air taxis, including ground transport as demonstrated at Air One, into a seamless, zero-emission journey.

“We are delighted to have Osprey join our ecosystem and look forward to building the world’s strongest and most sustainable advanced air mobility (AAM) infrastructure to help us achieve our net zero goals.”

Osprey Charging CEO Ian Johnston added: “We are delighted to partner with UAP to provide safe, reliable and accessible charging at future sites.

“The eVTOL space is becoming increasingly relevant as the world looks to reduce emissions in all forms of electric vehicle transport on our roads and our skies, and we look forward to working with UAP on its future projects.”

Last month, UAP opened Air-One in Coventry UK, claimed to be the world’s first hub for flying taxis and representing a blueprint for more than 200 sites to be built worldwide over the next five years.

The AAM market is forecast to grow by nine percent annually to reach $1 trillion within the next two decades and according to NASA, a lack of ground infrastructure remains one of the single biggest barriers to growth despite a booming market and a strong pipeline of eVTOLs entering commercial operations.

Earlier last month, UAP selected Dassault Systemes’ 3DExperience platform to support the development of its vertiports globally, starting with Air One.

The company will be able to create ‘virtual twins’ of infrastructure and manage them throughout operations across all future development at other sites.
