14th Electric Aircraft Symposium to cover variety of topics in virtual event
A host of speakers from across the industry will cover all things hybrid-electric and electric CTOL, STOL and VTOL at this year’s Electric Aircraft Symposium, which takes place from 28th to 30th July.
Organised by the Comparative Aircraft Flight Efficiency (CAFE) Foundation, the event was originally planned to be held in conjunction with the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. But Covid-19 restrictions has meant it will instead be held virtually.
In a draft agenda published on the Vertical Flight Society website, which is co-sponsoring the event, companies taking part will include Airflow, BAE Systems, Bye Aerospace, Canadian Air Mobility, elFly, HyPoint, International Vehicle Research, MagniX, NASA, Rolls-Royce, Sabrewing Aircraft, VoltAero and ZeroAvia.
Following an industry overview featuring Mike Hirschberg of the Vertical Flight Society and Col. Nathan Diller of the US Air Force and Agility Prime, topics on day one include Commuter/Regional Air Service, UAM — Passenger and Cargo, and UAM — Community Integration.
Day two’s schedule will consist of Regional Markets, Hybrid Propulsion Systems, eSTOL Tech and Infrastructure and Testing and Certification, while the final day will talk about Electric Motors, Energy Sources, Airline Market Dynamics and Electric Propulsion Systems.
Registration for day one is free, $75 each for day two and three or $125 for both. Students will be charged $40 for each day. Vertical Flight Society added that if you register for days two and three, you get 25 per cent off. This offer excludes students.
The Comparative Aircraft Flight Efficiency (CAFE) Foundation was founded in 1981 and as non-profit organisation, its mission is to advance the development of low-emission flight by fostering and promoting early entry practical market opportunities.
In 2007, CAFE Foundation hosted the first Electric Aircraft Symposium and four years later, managed NASA’s Green Flight Challenge, which was funded by Google.
