15th Electric Aircraft Symposium to bring together industry experts for more discussions about eVTOL aircraft market

With just two weeks until this year’s Electric Aircraft Symposium, the event will once again feature a wealth of expert speakers talking about critical industry topics across the advanced air mobility market.

Now in its 15th year, it takes place from July 20th — 22nd. It has been organised by the Comparative Aircraft Flight Efficiency (CAFE) Foundation and co-sponsored by the Vertical Flight Society.

The preliminary schedule will start with a global overview at 11.20 ET with Willi Tacke and Xin Gou of Flying Pages and Mike Hirschberg, Executive Director of Vertical Flight Society. At 12.15pm, there will be a discussion about business cases for regional air mobility with Darrell Swanson of Swanson Aviation Consultancy.

Ken Swartz will then moderate an afternoon session on aircraft conversions and supplemental-type certifications with Lee Human from AeroTEC, Kevin Noertker of Ampaire and Glen Dromgoole of Tier One Engineering. This will run from 1.40pm until 2.35pm.

The final two sessions of the day will consist of Electric Aircraft for Public Services and Defense (2.35pm to 3.30pm), with confirmed speakers Katerina Barilov of Jump Aero and Johnny Doo of International Vehicle Research. Community Integration is from 3.30pm to 4.25pm and features Scott Gore from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Adam Cohen of the University of Berkeley, California and Adrienne Lindgren from Hyundai Air Mobility.

Wednesday will start at 11am ET with a conversation about Advanced Air Mobility Competitions, which will be moderated by Yolanka Wulff from the Community Air Mobility Initiative (CAMI), Scott Neumann of the NAA and Eric Lindbergh of the Lindbergh Foundation.

Following this will be a session entitled ‘Integrating Hydrogen as a Propulsion Source’, with speakers Tine Tomazic from Pipistrel, JP Clarke from Universal Hydrogen and Anita Sengupta from Hydroplane. The Business Case for Urban Air Mobility and Coastal Community Use Cases will be the afternoon sessions, before Regional eCTOL and eSTOL are FAR 23 Fixed Wing certification finish the day.

The final day will focus on growing the workforce and incorporating diversity, with Hirschberg talking with Danielle McClean from Happy Takeoff and Marilyn Smith from Georgia Institute of Technology. Electric Motor Systems will feature Olaf Otto from Rolls-Royce, Jean Botti from VoltAero and Eric Bartsch of VerdeGo Aero.

Vertiports and GA Airports will be moderated by Rex Alexander of Five-Alpha with Paul Stith from Black and Veatch, Timothy Middleton of HMMH and Addison Ferrell from Skyports. Other topics on Thursday include Batteries, Cargo — which will feature Beta Technologies, Airflow and Sabrewing Aircraft — and Pilot Pipeline.

As a non-profit organisation, CAFE Foundation’s mission is to advance the development of low-emission flight by fostering and promoting early entry practical market opportunities. CAFE Foundation accomplishes this by bridging disciplines and industries, helping to identify trends and innovations, building strategic collaborations and ensuring on-going coordination.

For those interested in attending, the first day is free while both the second and third days cost $80. For students, the fee will be $40. Those who register for both the Wednesday and Thursday will get 20 per cent off, but this offer doesn’t include students.
