Respected EV Entrepreneur François Randin Joins Aerovolt

UK-based Aero­volt, a lead­ing bat­tery charg­ing net­work com­pa­ny for elec­tric air­craft, has appoint­ed Swiss entre­pre­neur, François Randin, to its Board, reports a press release.

Randin’s rep­u­ta­tion goes before him. He designed and launched the first charg­ing sta­tion for elec­tric air­craft in 2020. Before that he was the founder and CEO of two elec­tric mobil­i­ty star­tups which were lat­er bought by blue chip com­pa­nies.

These were:- 

: Green Motion, found­ed in 2009 which became one of the first star­tups design­ing and man­u­fac­tur­ing charg­ing infra­struc­ture for elec­tric vehi­cles. This was acquired by Eaton in 2021. 

: Evpass, Found­ed in 2018, that devel­oped into the largest charg­ing net­work for elec­tric vehi­cles in Switzer­land. This was tak­en over by Shell in 2023.

Philip Kings­ley-Dob­son, Aerovolt‘s Founder and CEO, com­ment­ed, “François is one of the most suc­cess­ful entre­pre­neurs in the EV indus­try. He is bring­ing to the team his unique 15 years’ expe­ri­ence in our busi­ness, his inter­na­tion­al net­work and an exten­sive start-up and entre­pre­neur­ship exper­tise.”

Back­ground

Aero­volt was found­ed in 2022. Today, it is deploy­ing the world’s first smart air­craft charg­ing net­work, work­ing along­side man­u­fac­tur­ers, reg­u­la­tors and air­port oper­a­tors. 

This includes engage­ment with close to 70 UK air­ports (11 ful­ly exclu­sive); six instal­la­tions com­plet­ed and 18 addi­tion­al sites sched­uled for 2024; a com­mer­cial con­tract pend­ing with CAA Inter­na­tion­al for the Aero­volt ATIS sys­tem; a prepa­ra­tion to roll out the net­work out­side of the UK; con­duct­ing the first air­field to air­field eVTOL flight.
