An independent flight test, certification, research & development center providing a complete range of services to the global aerospace community.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered on the outskirts of Montreal — one of the largest aerospace centres in the world — 3C provides a Canada-wide centralized resource with proven management, tools, and methods to undertake civil and military aerospace projects requiring airworthiness flight test and certification.
To address the future of aerospace 3C established CFATE-Centre for Future Aerospace Technologies, Evaluation, flight test and certification. CFATE helps customers find solutions to how new technologies will be specified, designed, developed, integrated, evaluated, tested, certified and showcased.
3C is an Independent, Transport Canada Approved Design Approval Organization (DAO) able to make findings of compliance in all delegable areas.
Marinvent Corporation
Founded in 1983 for the purpose of conducting aerospace research and development. The company now focuses on helping customers bring products to market efficiently and reducing program risk. Marinvent is headquartered around Montreal, one of the largest aerospace centres in the world.
In 2016 Marinvent created Certification Center Canada (3C), Canada’s first Independent flight test and certification Design Approval Organization (DAO). 3C now undertakes all certification services previously supplied by Marinvent. A strategic partnership with Marinvent supplying equipment, engineering and tools.
History of our Independent Flight Test and Certification DAO
3C’s sister company Marinvent has been in the business of flight test and certification for many years (since 1983).
Marinvent established the Flight Test Centre of Excellence as a separate company specifically for this purpose back in 2007. At this time, the market was not ready for us, but that changed in 2016 and led Marinvent to re-brand Flight Test Centre of Excellence as 3C.
Beginning in early 2016, Marinvent was encouraged by both the Canadian Aerospace industry and by Transport Canada to formally establish itself as an independent certification company by obtaining TCCA Independent DAO status.
This caused FTCE to seek (and later receive) Canada’s first independent flight test and certification DAO approval (This was announced at the Farnborough Airshow July 2016). The reasons are explained below:
Based upon the sheer size of the country and the distribution of expertise from East coast to West, it has never been easy for companies that require the permanent or periodic outsourcing of certification projects to contract with DARs and DAOs in Canada.
Since individual DARs are each very limited in terms of what they are approved to make findings of compliance on, even relatively simple projects may have required multiple DARs to cover properly.
This inevitably meant that customers had to manage multiple individual contracts with DARs across widespread geographical locations, each using their own processes and tools (if any), and with widely varying availabilities. 3C was conceived to overcome all of these shortcomings in order to make it easier and more reliable to manage such projects.
