EHang Launches International Fast-Track Framework for Pilotless eVTOL Operations
EHang has launched a new program aimed at speeding up the introduction of its pilotless electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in international markets, with Sri Lanka becoming the first country to adopt the framework.
The Global Fast Track Program is designed to provide civil aviation authorities with a structured process for evaluating and introducing EHang’s aircraft. In Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) are targeting initial sandbox commercialization within four months, subject to regulatory, technical, operational and safety approvals.
The program is divided into four stages: regulatory framework alignment, sandbox development, validation flights and commercial launch. EHang says the approach is intended to reduce the time required for regulators to assess an aircraft that has already received certification in another jurisdiction, rather than requiring each market to begin the process from scratch.

In Sri Lanka, the initial sandbox is expected to be centered on Port City in Colombo. Potential applications include tourism flights around sites such as Sigiriya and Pidurangala, airport-to-hotel shuttle services between Katunayake Airport and Colombo, and local passenger transport. Unmanned maritime cargo operations are also being considered.
EHang is expected to provide the aircraft, operating systems, technical support and personnel training for the planned demonstrations and trials.
The company says it is also in discussions with aviation authorities in other international markets about the Fast Track Program. Its flagship EH216‑S has received type, production and standard airworthiness certifications from China’s Civil Aviation Administration and is already being used commercially for passenger eVTOL services in China.
