Farnborough Aerospace Global Forum provides spin-off forums in aviation communities around the world
The Aerospace Global Forum (AGF) at Farnborough from 18–22 July 2022 provides the springboard for a suite of spin-off forums in aviation communities around the world, working with industry and partners to create thought leadership opportunities.
Joby founder & CEO JoeBen Bevirt will give a headline Talk at the AGF Main Stage on Tuesday 19th July, followed by a talk on ‘Decarbonizing aviation – bringing together an ecosystem’, moderated by McKinsey Centre for Future Mobility co-lead Robin Riedel.
These will be followed by talks by HSBC Head of ESG Solutions Managing Director Farnam Bidgoli, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch senior equity analyst Ronald Epstein, as well as Heathrow Airport CEO John Holland-Kaye and The Boeing Company senior VP for Global Enterprise Sustainability Chris Raymond.

JoeBen Bevirt, A Keynote Speaker (Tuesday 11.50am-12.50pm)
The Prince of Wales will be welcoming global industry leaders, chief executives, government, climate change experts and aerospace professional to the forum, which will see pioneers discuss and debate future-focused topics and sharing best practices and insights across seven core themes: Space, Future Flight, Security, Sustainability, Innovation, Future Workforce and Financing The Future on the main stage.
Advanced air mobility (AAM) is gaining momentum and becoming mainstream, especially as companies developing electric vertical takeoff and landing aircrafts continue to receive substantial investment from sources ranging from traditional aerospace companies to private equity investors. Competition in fields such as urban air mobility (UAM) is likely to be intense, and therefore companies in this ecosystem should gain an edge by being first movers.
Of particular interest to our subscribers on eVTOL Insights will be the ‘future flight’ themed sessions at Theatre 4, starting on the first day Monday 18th July on the topic of ‘Delivering the third aviation revolution’, to be moderated by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Flight challenge director Gary Cutts.
First to speak will be Joby Aviation head of product Eric Alison, followed by Eve CEO André Stein, Urban-Air Port founder & executive chairman Ricky Sandhu, Vertical CEO Stephen Fitzpatrick, and Supernal CEO Mike Whitaker.
The second day Tuesday 19th July, will explore ‘Tech innovation and bringing AAM from promise to reality’, moderated by The Air Current senior editor Elan Head, with presentations from Rolls-Royce customer business director Matheu Parr, Reaction Engines CEO Mark Thomas, Lilium CTO Alastair McIntosh, and Honeywell Power Systems VP David Shilliday.

Businesses of all sizes, from industry leaders and military delegations to start-ups and SMEs will convene at the Airshow as an opportunity to showcase the technologies and create the partnerships that will shape innovation in the aerospace and defence sector for decades to come.

Ricky Sandhu, Founder/CEO of Urban-Air Port (Speaking on Monday 11.30am-12.30pm)
Marking 2022 as the pinnacle for the industry to come together to reconnect, innovate, and collaborate to drive positive change that will shape a better future for aerospace and the planet, AGF is the platform to tackle important topics and collaborate on an elevated level.
Leveraging the convening power of Farnborough Airshow, Farnborough International and ADS are bringing global leaders together, helping to drive actionable change across aerospace, defence and other transformative industries including technology, finance and energy.
The programme is curated to bring broader ecosystems together in headline panel discussions to complement the schedule during the Airshow, including more intimate unpack networking sessions in AGF and around the Airshow that provide a deeper dive into the topics discussed.
The sustainable, digital era continues to transform the aerospace sector — always the bastion of innovation. The new era demands a reimagined customer journey, as new ecosystems emerge around supply chains and integrated travel. Companies are formulating new business strategies for successful commercial operations in these new fields of aviation.
The global aerospace ecosystem is evolving and adapting to challenges never faced before. While the entire world is now focusing on the critical health and sustainability of the planet, the aerospace ecosystem is at the most important junction in its history.
Aerospace Global Forum will be the epicentre of the progressive innovations and partnerships that will take the sector forward for years to come. AGF allows finance, governments, climate experts, start-ups, OEMs and their supply chains, share, debate and energise collaboration for the new action-driven plan to achieve net zero economy.
Understanding how the aerospace ecosystem is evolving is thus essential to prepare optimal conditions, not only to nurture its growth, but do it in a truly sustainable way. This is why AGF is bringing global leaders together, across all sectors and geographies, connecting aerospace, finance, energy, technology and manufacturing with the common goal — future of the planet and people.

Stephen Fitzpatrick, Founder/CEO of Vertical Aerospace (Speaking on Monday 11.30am-12.30pm)
Deloitte Global will host a panel discussion exploring the opportunities that Industry 4.0 and advanced manufacturing can bring to the aerospace industry.
At the inaugural Aerospace Global Forum at the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow, the 20th of July panel session: “Industry 4.0: The need for speed,” will see a panel of industry specialists explore emerging trends and challenges in the aerospace sector.
Moderated by Beth McGrath, Deloitte Global’s Government & Public Services Leader, the session will bring together leaders from aerospace and defence and other leading executives to discuss how the benefits of advanced manufacturing can drive faster turnaround times, more sustainable business practices, and better performance across the aerospace sector.
Understanding Industry 4.0 and, more broadly, digitalisation could enable aerospace manufacturers gain competitive advantage in delivering new capabilities to customers, reduce costs and waste, improve operational efficiency, and enhance regulatory compliance.
McGrath said: “As a sponsor of the inaugural Aerospace Global Forum, we are proud to contribute to industry discussions on sustainable manufacturing and the role it can play in the transition to net-zero. There is a need for speed to address sustainability challenges and doing so can accelerate innovations and improve performance across the aerospace industry.
“The Aerospace Global Forum will see industry leaders come together and discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector”. It encourages the building of actionable steps toward better performing and more sustainable business practices for a climate resilient future.”
John Coykendall, Global Aerospace & Defence Leader, Deloitte, commented: “This is arguably one of the most dynamic periods in aviation history, as the aerospace ecosystem tries to manage fluctuating demand and advanced air mobility entrants start to build operations from the ground up. All this, as the entire industry struggles with supply chain shortages, workforce challenges and becoming more sustainable.”

Gareth Rogers, CEO of Farnborough International
Gareth Rogers, CEO of Farnborough International, added: “Deloitte Global joins a number of international organisations as sponsors and partners of this global platform, which will set the agenda for industry in the years ahead, discussing the new digital workforce and future leaders of the aerospace and defence industry, and preparing organisations for the acceleration to a net zero economy. I look forward to continuing our relationship and collaborating as an ecosystem to make vital, actionable change.”
AGF is designed for the disruptive and existential challenges of the 21st Century and collaboration with a broad spectrum of interests is critical if aviation, defence, and space exploits are to address climate priorities, harness digitization, marshall advanced automation and material science in strained supply chains with resource and skill shortages.
The world-class Farnborough International Airshow has been providing an unrivalled biennial global platform for businesses from across the world of aerospace and defence for many years, to share their experience, exchange knowledge and develop vital commercial relationships.
