India: TechEagle Collaborate with AIIMS Rishikesh “to Carry Out Historic Drone Delivery and Transform Healthcare Supply Chain” 

India-based TechEa­gle, achieved a ground­break­ing mile­stone this week in col­lab­o­ra­tion with AIIMS Rishikesh, by com­plet­ing one of the longest Indi­an drone deliv­ery flights, reports a press release. This his­toric mis­sion suc­cess­ful­ly trans­port­ed essen­tial Tuber­cu­lo­sis (TB) med­i­cines.

The suc­cess­ful mis­sion, over chal­leng­ing hilly ter­rains, was made pos­si­ble with the sup­port of the Drone Didi ini­tia­tive under the country’s Prime Min­is­ter scheme. This ini­tia­tive pro­vides com­pre­hen­sive train­ing to women Self Help Groups (SHGs), enabling them to pro­fi­cient­ly oper­ate and mon­i­tor drones, there­by con­tribut­ing to the empow­er­ment of local com­mu­ni­ties.

Dur­ing the flight from AIIMS Rishikesh to seclud­ed regions like Cham­ba CHC and Hin­dolakhal PHC, the drone nav­i­gat­ed through com­plex ter­rains and ele­va­tions, while achiev­ing an impres­sive alti­tude gain over a 2.5 kilo­me­tres span, dur­ing a sin­gle 47 km jour­ney. A sim­i­lar dis­tance would take more than 4 hours by road. TechEagle’s Ver­ti­plane X3 deliv­ered the pay­load, includ­ing cru­cial TB med­i­cines in just 34 min­utes, mark­ing an incred­i­ble eight times improve­ment of speed com­pared to tra­di­tion­al road trans­port.

The ini­tia­tive will facil­i­tate the deliv­ery of diag­nos­tic kits, med­i­cines, blood sam­ples and more to CHC lev­el hos­pi­tals, mark­ing a sig­nif­i­cant stride towards enhanc­ing health­care acces­si­bil­i­ty in chal­leng­ing ter­rains.”
