Japan: “SkyDrive Full-Scale eVTOL Mock-Up Showcases at Osaka Expo”

Japan-based Sky­Drive is show­cas­ing a full-scale mock-up of its SD-05 eVTOL at the Osa­ka Expo, Kan­sai, reports a press release. Dis­played at the Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty Sta­tion Pavil­ion, the pub­lic first require a reser­va­tion to board the eVTOL and sit in its seats. 

Last week, Sky­Drive had con­duct­ed a remote-pilot­ed, four-minute long, demon­stra­tion flight of its air­craft above the Expo ver­ti­port for the attend­ing media. This came about after the sub­way oper­a­tor, Osa­ka Metro, who is an investor in the eVTOL com­pa­ny, had com­plet­ed the OSAKAKO con­struc­tion. There are fur­ther planned flights dur­ing the six-month long event.

Sky­Drive Con­ducts “Pub­lic Demon­stra­tion Flight” at Osa­ka-Kan­sai Expo 

Taku­mi Yamamo­to, the Sky­Drive Design Direc­tor, com­ment­ed, “Our eVTOL design embod­ies a vision for greater free­dom of move­ment through easy, every­day access to the sky and to achieve a strong bal­ance between func­tion­al­i­ty and beau­ty.”

He con­tin­ued,  “eVTOLs will not only rev­o­lu­tionise trans­porta­tion, they will also change the rela­tion­ship between urban and nat­ur­al envi­ron­ments, bring­ing peo­ple clos­er togeth­er. We hope our air­craft will cre­ate new pos­si­bil­i­ties and con­nec­tions as we enter a new era of smooth and seam­less every­day air trav­el.”
