LYTE Aviation Partners with AMROS Global on Hybrid-Electric Powerplant for eVTOL

LYTE Avi­a­tion and AMROS Glob­al have part­nered to devel­op and deliv­er the Power­Bridge HyVolt, a hybrid-elec­tric propul­sion sys­tem for LYTE’s 40-seat hybrid-hydro­gen eVTOL air­craft, known as the Sky­Bus.

The Power­Bridge HyVolt sys­tem com­bines con­ven­tion­al tur­bine engines with elec­tric propul­sion. Accord­ing to LYTE, the inte­gra­tion is intend­ed to sup­port a 1,000 km range in ful­ly elec­tric cruise mode, tar­get­ing both defense and com­mer­cial appli­ca­tions where pay­load and range require­ments have his­tor­i­cal­ly lim­it­ed elec­tric avi­a­tion options.

“Our work on the first 40-seat hybrid-hydro­gen elec­tric VTOL was only the begin­ning. With our Power­Bridge HyVolt, we are advanc­ing toward ful­ly elec­tric cruise flight with a 1,000 km range,” said Fresh­ta Farzam, CEO and Founder of LYTE Avi­a­tion. “This part­ner­ship with AMROS sup­ports devel­op­ment and com­mer­cial­iza­tion of the sys­tem, which is also intend­ed as a plat­form for oth­er OEMs in the indus­try.”

The com­pa­nies aim to advance the hybrid-hydro­gen eVTOL toward cer­ti­fi­ca­tion and oper­a­tions with­in the next few years. The Power­Bridge HyVolt is designed to reduce fuel burn and emis­sions by increas­ing the share of elec­tric propul­sion.

AMROS Glob­al, a Switzer­land-based com­pa­ny, pro­vides air­craft tech­ni­cal man­age­ment ser­vices includ­ing Con­tin­u­ing Air­wor­thi­ness Man­age­ment (CAMO), air­craft tran­si­tions, and engi­neer­ing sup­port. The com­pa­ny is sup­port­ing LYTE with the devel­op­ment and com­mer­cial­iza­tion of the Power­Bridge HyVolt solu­tion.
