Redwings to purchase ten Jaunt Air eVTOLs for Mexico City air taxi service
Redwings has signed with Jaunt Air Mobility to purchase ten eVTOLs in Mexico, with an option to purchase ten additional units, and plans to support Redwings’ launch of an air taxi service in urban markets, starting with Mexico City.
“The elevation of Mexico City at 7,349 feet is higher than Denver, Colorado, and presents challenges for any VTOL aircraft operating at this altitude,” said Redwings president Bernardo Moreno.
“Journey’s highly efficient vertical flight capability enables it to operate at higher altitude with no performance limitations. After researching many eVTOL aircraft, the Jaunt Journey offers the safest aircraft with low operational costs and performance needed.”
Jaunt CCO Simon Briceno added: “Jaunt Journey’s main rotor technology has low rotor disc loading and tip speeds that will provide Redwings with high efficiency vertical flight at high altitudes. We are confident in our path to certification.”
Jaunt Air Mobility is developing and certifying the Jaunt Journey in Canada, whose patented Slowed-Rotor Compound (SRC) technology offers safety by allowing the aircraft to auto-rotate or glide to the ground in a controlled manner under a complete power loss.
Jaunt Air Mobility is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with design and manufacturing located in Montreal, Canada. Jaunt is developing SRC technology with Tier 1 aerospace partners and is a brand of AIRO Group Holdings, a mid-tier aerospace and defense company offering industry-leading technology and services in electric air mobility, advanced avionics and uncrewed air systems.
One month ago, Blade India, a joint venture between Hunch Ventures and Blade Air Mobility, announced that it would launch eVTOL aircraft operations in India and the subcontinent by 2027 with Jaunt Air Mobility.
