Urban Air Mobility virtual conference to bring global speakers together and focus on key industry topics
OEMs, aviation authorities, regulators and transport providers are just some of the many speakers lined up to talk at Aviation Week’s Urban Air Mobility virtual event next week.
From 11th to 13th August, a wide selection of speakers from across the aviation and aerospace industries will discuss the next steps in the Urban Air Mobility market, via a combination of presentations and interactive panel discussions. Hosted on the Brella platform, participants will also be able to seamlessly connect and network face-to-face with other attendees.
Companies already registered for the event include Airbus, Airflow.aero, BAE Systems, Boeing, Dassault Systemes, EHang, Embrarer, GE Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace, Hyundai Urban Air Mobility, Jaunt Air Mobility, Joby Aviation, Kitty Hawk, NASA, Piasecki Aircraft, Safran, Skyports, Rolls-Royce, US Air Force, UK Research and Innovation, Vertical Flight Society, Volocopter and Wisk.
On Tuesday, Dr Stephan Baur of Roland Berger and Darrell Swanson from Swanson Aviation Consultancy will provide an industry overview from 7am to 8am BST. This discussion will explore the critical trends and future expectations of the market and give updates on expected roll-out times and what issues could impact these. Afterwards, there will be a live Q&A for the Asia-Pacific region.
A similar discussion with Swanson and Urban Air Mobility advisor Mariya Tarabanovska will be from 10am — 11am BST, but a live Q&A will focus on developments in Europe. Swanson will then lead a Q&A about the US market from 2pm to 3pm BST.
The remaining sessions on Tuesday include a webinar talking about the impact of Covid-19, entitled ‘What Next for the Customer Communities?’. Moderated by Robin Thevathasan, Panel Member of the Experts Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore), speakers will be Felipe Varon, CEO and Founder of Varon Vehicles Corporation, Anna Dietrich, Co-Executive Director of the Community Air Mobility Initiative and Tarabanovska.
‘Ensuring Continued Investment for the UAM Industry’ from 4pm — 5pm BST will be moderated by Graham Warwick, Managing Editor, Technology Aviation Week and Space Technology. The panel will feature Kirsten Bartok Touw, Managing Partner of Air Finance, Sergio Cecutta, Partner of SMG Consulting, Chris Kucera, Founder and Head of Strategic Partnerships at OneSky, Klaas Jacob Klasen, Head of UAS Capability Centre at Lufthansa Technik and Bill Carey, Senior Editor, Avionics and Air Traffic Management, Aviation Week Network.
From 12noon BST on Wednesday 12th August, there will be an in-depth look at Autonomy and Avionics Systems, before a talk about the ‘Transformation of Infrastructure and the UAM Ecosystem’ from 3pm BST. ‘Integrating Urban Air Mobility into the Airspace’ will be straight after at 4pm BST and is the final session of the day.
And on Thursday 13th August, Andreas Perotti, Chief Marketing Officer at EHang, will be talking from 9am to 10am BST, where he will give an insight into how the company plans to make autonomous travel a reality in cities across the world.
This will be followed by a discussion about public acceptance from 3pm to 4pm BST, which will look at overcoming the hurdles when it comes to concerns about safety and interference with everyday life. And finally, a conversation giving updates about hybrid electric propulsion and electrification will be from 4pm to 5pm BST.
