Urban Air Mobility virtual conference to bring global speakers together and focus on key industry topics

OEMs, avi­a­tion author­i­ties, reg­u­la­tors and trans­port providers are just some of the many speak­ers lined up to talk at Avi­a­tion Week’s Urban Air Mobil­i­ty vir­tu­al event next week.

From 11th to 13th August, a wide selec­tion of speak­ers from across the avi­a­tion and aero­space indus­tries will dis­cuss the next steps in the Urban Air Mobil­i­ty mar­ket, via a com­bi­na­tion of pre­sen­ta­tions and inter­ac­tive pan­el dis­cus­sions. Host­ed on the Brel­la plat­form, par­tic­i­pants will also be able to seam­less­ly con­nect and net­work face-to-face with oth­er atten­dees.

Com­pa­nies already reg­is­tered for the event include Air­bus, Airflow.aero, BAE Sys­tems, Boe­ing, Das­sault Sys­temes, EHang, Embrar­er, GE Avi­a­tion, Hon­ey­well Aero­space, Hyundai Urban Air Mobil­i­ty, Jaunt Air Mobil­i­ty, Joby Avi­a­tion, Kit­ty Hawk, NASA, Piasec­ki Air­craft, Safran, Sky­ports, Rolls-Royce, US Air Force, UK Research and Inno­va­tion, Ver­ti­cal Flight Soci­ety, Volo­copter and Wisk.

On Tues­day, Dr Stephan Baur of Roland Berg­er and Dar­rell Swan­son from Swan­son Avi­a­tion Con­sul­tan­cy will pro­vide an indus­try overview from 7am to 8am BST. This dis­cus­sion will explore the crit­i­cal trends and future expec­ta­tions of the mar­ket and give updates on expect­ed roll-out times and what issues could impact these. After­wards, there will be a live Q&A for the Asia-Pacif­ic region.

A sim­i­lar dis­cus­sion with Swan­son and Urban Air Mobil­i­ty advi­sor Mariya Tara­banovs­ka will be from 10am — 11am BST, but a live Q&A will focus on devel­op­ments in Europe. Swan­son will then lead a Q&A about the US mar­ket from 2pm to 3pm BST.

The remain­ing ses­sions on Tues­day include a webi­nar talk­ing about the impact of Covid-19, enti­tled ‘What Next for the Cus­tomer Com­mu­ni­ties?’. Mod­er­at­ed by Robin The­vathasan, Pan­el Mem­ber of the Experts Asso­ci­a­tion of Aero­space Indus­tries (Sin­ga­pore), speak­ers will be Felipe Varon, CEO and Founder of Varon Vehi­cles Cor­po­ra­tion, Anna Diet­rich, Co-Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of the Com­mu­ni­ty Air Mobil­i­ty Ini­tia­tive and Tara­banovs­ka.

‘Ensur­ing Con­tin­ued Invest­ment for the UAM Indus­try’ from 4pm — 5pm BST will be mod­er­at­ed by Gra­ham War­wick, Man­ag­ing Edi­tor, Tech­nol­o­gy Avi­a­tion Week and Space Tech­nol­o­gy. The pan­el will fea­ture Kirsten Bar­tok Touw, Man­ag­ing Part­ner of Air Finance, Ser­gio Cecut­ta, Part­ner of SMG Con­sult­ing, Chris Kucera, Founder and Head of Strate­gic Part­ner­ships at OneSky, Klaas Jacob Klasen, Head of UAS Capa­bil­i­ty Cen­tre at Lufthansa Tech­nik and Bill Carey, Senior Edi­tor, Avion­ics and Air Traf­fic Man­age­ment, Avi­a­tion Week Net­work.

From 12noon BST on Wednes­day 12th August, there will be an in-depth look at Auton­o­my and Avion­ics Sys­tems, before a talk about the ‘Trans­for­ma­tion of Infra­struc­ture and the UAM Ecosys­tem’ from 3pm BST. ‘Inte­grat­ing Urban Air Mobil­i­ty into the Air­space’ will be straight after at 4pm BST and is the final ses­sion of the day.

And on Thurs­day 13th August, Andreas Per­ot­ti, Chief Mar­ket­ing Offi­cer at EHang, will be talk­ing from 9am to 10am BST, where he will give an insight into how the com­pa­ny plans to make autonomous trav­el a real­i­ty in cities across the world.

This will be fol­lowed by a dis­cus­sion about pub­lic accep­tance from 3pm to 4pm BST, which will look at over­com­ing the hur­dles when it comes to con­cerns about safe­ty and inter­fer­ence with every­day life. And final­ly, a con­ver­sa­tion giv­ing updates about hybrid elec­tric propul­sion and elec­tri­fi­ca­tion will be from 4pm to 5pm BST.
