Venetz Aerospace Secures Landmark UK CAA Design Organisation Approval for ElectricMotors and Propellers

First UK approval covering both electric motors and propellers for uncrewed and crewed aircraft applications

Venetz Aerospace, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of electric propulsion systems for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), today announced it has received Part 21J Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for electric motors and propellers. This is the first approval of its kind in the UK.

This milestone officially recognises that Venetz Aerospace can design aviation products that meet UK Part 21 airworthiness regulations. It is an important step as the company works toward Type Certification for its electric propulsion systems, which include motors, electronic speed controllers (ESCs), and propellers.

Type Certification is key to supporting the next generation of advanced drone operations. Certified propulsion systems provide the airworthiness assurance needed for higher-risk missions, helping UAS manufacturers aiming for high SAIL Specific Category and Certified Category operations. These capabilities will be an essential element to unlocking more complex and valuable UAS use cases, such as carrying heavier payloads in larger aircraft and operating safely over populated areas. In these cases, regulations are stricter, and airworthiness is paramount.

“Receiving Design Organisation Approval from the CAA is a defining milestone for Venetz Aerospace,” said Anthony Venetz, CEO. “It validates the strength of our engineering capability, our processes, and our commitment to delivering propulsion systems that meet the highest standards of safety and performance. This will be a key element for enabling large-scale, commercially viable, drone operations in the UK and internationally.”

As the UAS industry takes on more safety-critical applications, regulatory expectations increase proportionally. Venetz Aerospace is leading on how these requirements are met by developing UK-designed and UK-built propulsion systems with a local supply chain. This helps manufacturers and operators meet airworthiness and supply chain requirements with confidence.

The company’s integrated propulsion solution, which includes electric motors, ESCs, and propellers, is designed for performance, efficiency, and certifiable airworthiness. While working with the UK CAA on Part 21 Type Certified products, Venetz Aerospace is already offering SAIL 4‑capable and dual-use systems for both civil and defence markets.

About Venetz Aerospace

Venetz Aerospace designs and manufactures advanced electric propulsion systems for drones and uncrewed aircraft systems. Founded to power the next generation of aviation, the company combines deep aerospace expertise with a sovereign UK supply chain to deliver high-performance, safety-critical propulsion technology. Its product portfolio includes electric motors, electronic speed controllers, and propellers engineered for certification-ready UAS applications.
