Volocopter Integrates Swiss-AS AMOS Software into Ecosystem
Swiss Aviation Software (Swiss-AS) and Volocopter today signed a landmark contract for its AMOS maintenance, repair, and overhaul software to manage Volocopter’s eVTOL aircraft fleet worldwide.
This will ensure continued fleet airworthiness, offer aircraft reliability monitoring and analysis, and act as an interface to Volocopter’s proprietary VoloIQ digital operating system.
Volocopter is set to receive type certification in 2024 for its VoloCity two-seater electric air taxi for city use and will launch commercial services in Europe that meet the same safety standards that commercial airliners must satisfy.
AMOS manages a vehicle’s configuration traceability throughout its life cycle, including component design and purchase dates, installation and replacement dates, and total operating hours.
Ground technicians will use AMOSmobile/EXEC, a touch-optimised mobile maintenance solution for live data streams, while artificial intelligence will enable reliability monitoring to improve fleet management efficiency. Meanwhile, Volocopter’s VoloIQ backbone will monitor customer-facing services like the booking process, as well as aircraft location and status, and battery health.
Fabiano Faccoli, Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Aviation Software, said: “Signing with Volocopter is confirmation that AMOS stands for innovation. We look forward to cooperating with the UAM pioneer Volocopter, who is designing the customer journey from A to Z while complying with the highest safety standards.”
Oliver Reinhardt, chief risk and certification officer of Volocopter, said: “With Swiss-AS as a partner, Volocopter is making strides to ensure that the maintenance of our VoloCity is managed and executed efficiently and foolproof.
“The AMOS software has a proven track record in the aviation industry – giving us confidence to obtain our Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation and Maintenance Organisation Approval, which is essential for our entry into service.”
AMOS in combination with its mobile package digitises and automates maintenance processes and connects with other industry solutions via the data messaging platform AMOScentral.
In April, Volocopter announced that it would open a production facility in Bruchsal with a new hangar to host its final assembly line and an airfield to conduct flight tests, as well as quality checks.
