Miami Vertiport Design Challenge: “Are You Ready to Shape The AAM Future?”

Burhan Sebin, Head of Research at Ven­ture Mia­mi, is busy on Linkedin, telling peo­ple about a new com­pe­ti­tion to design a ver­ti­port. It is open to every­one, in par­tic­u­lar, stu­dents.

Sebin writes, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Advanced air Mobil­i­ty (AAM) Ver­ti­port Design Chal­lenge, a pio­neer­ing ini­tia­tive set to rev­o­lu­tionise the future of Urban Air Mobil­i­ty. This event is your oppor­tu­ni­ty to be at the fore­front of sus­tain­able avi­a­tion and urban devel­op­ment.”

He tells those who are inter­est­ed to come along to the Philip and Patri­cia Frost Muse­um of Sci­ence in Mia­mi on April 10th (4pm to 9pm), for an intro­duc­to­ry ses­sion. “And win the prizes,” says Sebin, but it is unclear what these are.

He asks, “Why Attend?” 

Inno­vate: Con­tribute to ground­break­ing ver­ti­port designs enhanc­ing effi­cien­cy and safe­ty for eVTOL Air­craft.

Col­lab­o­rate: Engage with a diverse group of lead­ers from acad­e­mia, the avi­a­tion indus­try, urban plan­ning and gov­ern­ment agen­cies.

Shape the Future: Help devel­op the reg­u­la­to­ry frame­work crit­i­cal for the inte­gra­tion of AAM into the City of Mia­mi.

The Process: After the intro­duc­to­ry ses­sion, form a team and come up with an inno­v­a­tive ver­ti­port design. This is a 30-day chal­lenge (ends on May 28th). On demon­stra­tion day, then show your mas­ter­piece to a respect­ed pan­el of judges rep­re­sent­ing fed­er­al agen­cies, indus­try and local gov­ern­ment.

For a design­er seek­ing a job in the AAM indus­try this could be a good oppor­tu­ni­ty. There will be poten­tial spon­sors and part­ners look­ing at the best ver­ti­port designs.
