AAM Institute and Universidad de los Andes to unveil Colombia’s First Advanced Air Mobility Policy Strategy at its PAAMC 2026 virtual event

Uni­ver­si­dad de los Andes, CADA (Cole­gio de Abo­ga­dos de Dere­cho Aeronáu­ti­co), and the Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty Insti­tute have revealed details about its Pan-Amer­i­can Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty Con­fer­ence, known as PAAMC 2026, which takes place next month.

Tak­ing place vir­tu­al­ly from Sep­tem­ber 2nd to 4th, PAAMC 2026 is designed to turn a cru­cial win­dow of reg­u­la­to­ry and tech­no­log­i­cal oppor­tu­ni­ty into real socio-eco­nom­ic progress for Colom­bia and Latin Amer­i­ca.

1. Explo­ration, Res­cue & Envi­ron­ment: Build­ing a coor­di­nat­ed mul­ti-agency drone response net­work, a crit­i­cal pri­or­i­ty fol­low­ing the dev­as­tat­ing earth­quake in Colom­bia on August 10, 2026
2. Health & Region­al Con­nec­tiv­i­ty: Estab­lish­ing med­ical drone deliv­ery to reach remote Andean, Ama­zon­ian, and Chocó com­mu­ni­ties cur­rent­ly iso­lat­ed dur­ing dry sea­sons when riv­er and road routes dry up
3. Per­ish­able Logis­tics: Devel­op­ing cold-chain car­go drone net­works for cof­fee, flower, fruit, and banana pro­duc­ers to reduce Colom­bi­a’s 34% annu­al nation­al food loss
4. Secu­ri­ty & Pub­lic Trust: Devel­op­ing counter-drone detec­tion and defense sys­tems for crit­i­cal infra­struc­ture, co-led by the Colom­bian Aero­space Force (FAC) and civ­il avi­a­tion author­i­ty Aero­civ­il
5. Tourism & Region­al Access: Expand­ing eco-tourism access to iso­lat­ed des­ti­na­tions like Leti­cia and Gorg­ona Nation­al Park, draw­ing on prece­dents set by oper­a­tors like Volar Colom­bia and Alma Air’s sea­plane routes
6. Pre­ci­sion Agri­cul­ture: Expand­ing mul­ti­spec­tral and ther­mal crop mon­i­tor­ing and heavy-pay­load treat­ment, ref­er­enc­ing region­al reg­u­la­to­ry stan­dards such as Ecuador’s 250 kg agri­cul­tur­al drone thresh­old

3. Aero­nau­ti­cal Reg­u­la­to­ry Sand­box Work­shop

Co-led with CADA, this ses­sion address­es how Colom­bia can for­mal­ize test­ing frame­works for pilot­less and autonomous air­craft. The work­shop draws on Colombia’s fin­tech reg­u­la­to­ry sand­box (‘la Aren­era’, oper­a­tional since 2020) and the US FAA Inte­gra­tion Pilot Pro­gram.

4. Sov­er­eign Man­u­fac­tur­ing & Indus­tri­al Capac­i­ty

A ded­i­cat­ed Day 2 pan­el will exam­ine how Colom­bia can become both a pro­duc­er and an importer of AAM tech­nol­o­gy. The ses­sion eval­u­ates an exist­ing map of 497 domes­tic aero­space-capa­ble com­pa­nies in col­lab­o­ra­tion with met­al­work­ing indus­try stake­hold­ers (Fedemetal/ANDI)

5. Region­al Hackathon Com­pe­ti­tion

Thir­teen start­up teams from Colom­bia, Peru, and Ecuador will com­pete with AAM solu­tions. The top six teams will pitch live to an expert pan­el of investors and judges dur­ing the sum­mit.
