AAM Institute and Universidad de los Andes to unveil Colombia’s First Advanced Air Mobility Policy Strategy at its PAAMC 2026 virtual event
Universidad de los Andes, CADA (Colegio de Abogados de Derecho Aeronáutico), and the Advanced Air Mobility Institute have revealed details about its Pan-American Advanced Air Mobility Conference, known as PAAMC 2026, which takes place next month.
Taking place virtually from September 2nd to 4th, PAAMC 2026 is designed to turn a crucial window of regulatory and technological opportunity into real socio-economic progress for Colombia and Latin America.
Attendance and participation are free and open to international attendees at:
https://administracion.uniandes.edu.co/paamc-2026/.
Rather than passive panel discussions, PAAMC 2026 introduces a live dynamic workspace model designed by Universidad de los Andes:
1. The Six Value Corridors (Ground-Level Evidence & Use Cases)
- Rotating Working Tables: Participants will rotate through six corridor working tables during two-hour blocks
- Real-Time Data Capture: Insights are continuously converted into visual infographics
- National Roadmap (“Aterrizar el futuro” / “Landing the Future”): On Day 3, Veneta Andonova, Associate Professor of Business Strategy and the former Dean of the School of Management at Universidad de los Andes, will present the final compiled White Paper, synthesizing all sessions, regulatory proposals, and hackathon results into Colombia’s official AAM roadmap
2. The Six Value Corridors (Ground-Level Evidence & Use Cases)
The summit addresses six critical application areas tied directly to real regional logistics and infrastructure challenges
- Exploration, Rescue & Environment: Building a coordinated multi-agency drone response network, a critical priority following the devastating earthquake in Colombia on August 10, 2026
- Health & Regional Connectivity: Establishing medical drone delivery to reach remote Andean, Amazonian, and Chocó communities currently isolated during dry seasons when river and road routes dry up
- Perishable Logistics: Developing cold-chain cargo drone networks for coffee, flower, fruit, and banana producers to reduce Colombia’s 34% annual national food loss
- Security & Public Trust: Developing counter-drone detection and defense systems for critical infrastructure, co-led by the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC) and civil aviation authority Aerocivil
- Tourism & Regional Access: Expanding eco-tourism access to isolated destinations like Leticia and Gorgona National Park, drawing on precedents set by operators like Volar Colombia and Alma Air’s seaplane routes
- Precision Agriculture: Expanding multispectral and thermal crop monitoring and heavy-payload treatment, referencing regional regulatory standards such as Ecuador’s 250 kg agricultural drone threshold
3. Aeronautical Regulatory Sandbox Workshop
Co-led with CADA, this session addresses how Colombia can formalize testing frameworks for pilotless and autonomous aircraft. The workshop draws on Colombia’s fintech regulatory sandbox (‘la Arenera’, operational since 2020) and the US FAA Integration Pilot Program.
4. Sovereign Manufacturing & Industrial Capacity
A dedicated Day 2 panel will examine how Colombia can become both a producer and an importer of AAM technology. The session evaluates an existing map of 497 domestic aerospace-capable companies in collaboration with metalworking industry stakeholders (Fedemetal/ANDI)
5. Regional Hackathon Competition
Thirteen startup teams from Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador will compete with AAM solutions. The top six teams will pitch live to an expert panel of investors and judges during the summit.
