AIBOT Receives “USD15 Million California Competes Grant”, to Assist Company eVTOL Development and Job Creation
AIBOT, a California-based company developing an AI-defined eVTOL aircraft and ecosystem, announced this week a recent USD15 million grant from the California Competes Grant Program, reports a press release. This endorsement by the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), represents a major milestone for AIBOT and the rapidly growing eVTOL sector.
During 2023, GO-Biz has received over USD1.8 billion in grant requests for the USD120 million available. As one of only eight recipients awarded, two of which were eVTOL companies, AIBOT’s selection underscores the importance of such technology in driving California’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The release states, “The grant not only demonstrates the state’s vision of being a leader in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector but also affirms its dedication to fostering cutting-edge industries that promise a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.”
Jerry Wang, Executive Chair of AIBOT, commented, “Receiving this grant is a powerful endorsement of our mission and potential. We’re ready to utilise this opportunity to fortify our role as an ultra-high-tech leader in the Advanced Air Mobility sector, making substantial contributions to California’s economy and job market.”

Dee Dee Myers, Senior Advisor to Governor Newsom and GO-Biz Director, added, “We want to ensure California remains a leader in the AAM industry. We look forward to AIBOT’s success as they build out their company and continue to grow their presence across California.”
The USD15 million grant will assist the company to not only advance aerial mobility in California, but help create close to 700 new full-time jobs supported by a State investment worth almost USD500 million over the next five years. Centralising operations in California, particularly in Long Beach and Mojave, the grant will enhance AIBOT’s R&D capabilities, flight testing, and manufacturing and accelerate the company’s development.
Rex Richardson, Mayor of Longbeach, remarked, “This grant supports our city’s economic growth and sustainability vision, as well as our green innovation and technological leadership.”
