L2 Aviation And Gotonomi Partner To Extend UAV Connectivity
L2 Aviation and UK-based Gotonomi have formed a partnership aimed at extending reliable communications for uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft operating beyond the reach of terrestrial networks.
The collaboration combines L2 Aviation’s aircraft integration and certification capabilities with Gotonomi’s compact satellite communications technology. The companies said the work will initially focus on North American operators and applications where cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity may be limited or unavailable.
The planned solutions will use Gotonomi’s lightweight communications systems alongside Viasat’s Velaris satellite communications ecosystem, which is designed for UAV and AAM operations. L2 Aviation joined the Velaris ecosystem through Galaxy 1 Communications in May 2026.
Under the partnership, L2 will provide engineering, installation, integration and certification services to incorporate the communications equipment into aircraft and operational platforms. The systems are intended to support command and control, telemetry, operational information and other mission-critical data.
The companies see particular potential in sectors such as energy and infrastructure, where UAVs are increasingly used to inspect assets spread across large or remote areas. Maintaining connectivity in these environments could also support the expansion of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, although such operations remain subject to applicable regulatory and operational requirements.

L2 said the collaboration is intended to provide a route from system design and aircraft integration through certification and deployment. Gotonomi, meanwhile, brings communications equipment designed around the size, weight and power constraints of UAV platforms.
