Doroni Aerospace Partners With TLG Aerospace on H1‑X Engineering and Certification
Doroni Aerospace has partnered with Seattle-based aerospace engineering firm TLG Aerospace to support engineering analysis and certification work for its H1‑X personal electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
Under the partnership, TLG Aerospace will work with Doroni’s engineering team on the H1‑X’s vehicle design, structural loads analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and flight mechanics. The work is intended to support the aircraft’s progression towards full-scale production, ground testing and FAA airworthiness requirements.
The H1‑X is being developed as a personal eVTOL with a tandem-wing configuration and enclosed ducted-fan propulsion. Doroni says the aircraft is designed to accommodate residential garage storage and personal flight operations. The company is also developing a digital co-pilot system for the aircraft.
A major focus of the collaboration will be establishing engineering data to support the H1‑X’s planned certification pathway under the FAA’s MOSAIC regulatory framework. TLG Aerospace has FAA Designated Engineering Representatives with expertise in areas including flight performance and handling qualities, loads, structures and aeroelasticity.
The companies will use structural and aerodynamic analysis to assess the H1‑X before major physical build and testing activities. Structural work will include airframe loads modelling and finite element analysis, with the aim of evaluating the strength and weight characteristics of the aircraft’s carbon-fibre structure.
Aerodynamic analysis will use CFD to examine performance across different flight regimes, including hover and forward flight. The companies also plan to assess transition characteristics and energy consumption as the aircraft moves between vertical and wing-borne flight.
The partnership will additionally cover preparation of engineering datasets, stress reports and test plans intended to align with applicable consensus standards under the MOSAIC framework.
Doroni said the collaboration will support the company as it moves towards advanced flight testing and production development. TLG Aerospace will provide engineering and certification support from its Seattle operation, where it works on aircraft programmes from early-stage development through flight certification.
