Dovetail Electric Aviation appoints Michele D’Ercole as Chief Technology Officer and Head of Engineering

Dove­tail Elec­tric Avi­a­tion has announced the appoint­ment of Michele D’Ercole as Chief Tech­nol­o­gy Offi­cer (CTO) and Head of Engi­neer­ing dur­ing this year’s AERO Friedrichshafen.

Michele brings more than 30 years of lead­er­ship expe­ri­ence across aero­space, tur­bo­ma­chin­ery, and advanced propul­sion tech­nolo­gies, fur­ther strength­en­ing Dovetail’s tech­ni­cal capa­bil­i­ties as the com­pa­ny pro­gress­es toward cer­ti­fi­ca­tion and entry into ser­vice of its elec­tric avi­a­tion solu­tions.

As part of a press release issued ear­li­er this week, it said: “Through­out his career, Michele has held senior engi­neer­ing and exec­u­tive roles at tra­di­tion­al glob­al orga­ni­za­tions includ­ing Fiat Avio, GE Oil & Gas and GE Avi­a­tion, but also new elec­tri­fi­ca­tion play­ers like mag­niX or Hyper­works.

“His back­ground com­bines deep tech­ni­cal exper­tise in tur­bine and propul­sion sys­tems with strong expe­ri­ence in indus­tri­al­iza­tion and orga­ni­za­tion­al lead­er­ship.”

At GE Avi­a­tion Czech, he served as Engi­neer­ing Direc­tor and lat­er Pres­i­dent & Gen­er­al Man­ag­er for small com­mer­cial tur­bo­prop pro­grams. At mag­niX, he played a key role as COO and Act­ing CEO, con­tribut­ing to the devel­op­ment and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion of elec­tric propul­sion tech­nolo­gies for avi­a­tion. Most recent­ly, he led the fea­si­bil­i­ty phase of the Vene­to Hyper Trans­fer project as Chief Hyper­loop Offi­cer at Hyper­works.

Dove­tail is exhibit­ing at AERO Friedrichshafen for the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive year, show­cas­ing its pro­pri­etary Dove­Pow­erTM Elec­tric Propul­sion Sys­tem and DovePack­TM bat­tery plat­form, two core tech­nolo­gies designed to enable the retro­fit of exist­ing region­al air­craft with elec­tric and hybrid-elec­tric propul­sion sys­tems.

As CTO and Head of Engi­neer­ing, Michele will lead Dovetail’s glob­al engi­neer­ing activ­i­ties, sup­port­ing the devel­op­ment, indus­tri­al­iza­tion, and cer­ti­fi­ca­tion of the company’s elec­tric propul­sion solu­tions, includ­ing Dove­Pow­er and DovePack.

Dovetail’s pres­ence at AERO 2026 marks anoth­er mile­stone in the company’s growth, fol­low­ing the unveil­ing of Dove­Pow­er last year and con­tin­ued progress in bat­tery and propul­sion test­ing pro­grams across Spain and Aus­tralia. The com­pa­ny works close­ly with indus­try part­ners, reg­u­la­tors and oper­a­tors to bring prac­ti­cal elec­tric avi­a­tion solu­tions to mar­ket.
