FIA 2026: Jeff Rex of L2 Aviation on why connectivity and autonomy are key to AAM’s Future

L2 Aviation’s Chief Revenue Officer Jeff Rex joins eVTOL Insights at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 to discuss the evolving avionics, connectivity and integration requirements of the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market.

In this interview, Jeff explains how AAM and unmanned aircraft will need to transition into a common, safety-critical airspace environment, drawing on lessons from conventional aviation and established satellite communications systems. He highlights the growing importance of reliable connectivity, navigation and real-time data as aircraft become increasingly autonomous and digitally enabled.

Jeff also discusses the certification challenges facing next-generation aircraft, including the need for regulators to adapt to AAM and unmanned systems globally. Looking ahead, he identifies autonomy as one of the technologies likely to have the biggest impact on aircraft development over the next five years.

Finally, Jeff explains how L2 Aviation is bringing its expertise in commercial, military and government aviation into the AAM market through hardware, connectivity and systems integration.
