Lilium, UrbanV to collaborate on Vertiports in Italy, French Riviera and Elsewhere

Lil­i­um and UrbanV announced this week a col­lab­o­ra­tion to devel­op Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty (AAM) infra­struc­ture, where plans include con­struct­ing ver­ti­ports in Italy, the French Riv­iera and else­where, reports a press release. This enables Lil­i­um to launch eVTOL oper­a­tions and assist its cus­tomers with poten­tial for fur­ther “pre­mi­um tourist routes and mar­ket oppor­tu­ni­ties” in the future.

With exten­sive expe­ri­ence and entre­pre­neur­ship in devel­op­ing the cor­rect infra­struc­ture for eVTOL flight, UrbanV brings a wealth of tal­ent and strong tech­ni­cal exper­tise to make our ambi­tion to deliv­er sus­tain­able region­al air trav­el a real­i­ty.”   

Ivan Bas­sato, Chair­man of UrbanV, added, “With our ver­ti­port net­work goals, we are build­ing a tech­nol­o­gy-agnos­tic plat­form for oper­a­tors to pro­vide new and inno­v­a­tive zero-emis­sion trans­port ser­vices.”

He con­tin­ued, “We see Lil­i­um as one of the lead­ing eVTOL man­u­afac­tur­ers in the world and are excit­ed to part­ner with them, to ensure that their rev­o­lu­tion­ary jet can safe­ly land and take off from any of our UrbanV ver­ti­ports.”

The release states, “UrbanV brings effi­cient and sus­tain­able advanced air mobil­i­ty to urban cen­tres with its exten­sive design and infra­struc­ture exper­tise for the devel­op­ment of ver­ti­ports. Lil­i­um will ben­e­fit from their strong foothold and key air­port access in Rome, Venice, Bologna, Nice, Cannes, St. Tropez and sur­round­ing areas. Ini­tial focus will be on cre­at­ing the infra­struc­ture to enable first sus­tain­able eVTOL routes.”

UrbanV is a com­pa­ny found­ed by Aero­por­ti di Roma, SAVE Group, Aero­por­to di Bologna and Aero­ports de la Côte d’Azur, for the devel­op­ment of Advanced Air Mobil­i­ty (AAM) infra­struc­ture at an inter­na­tion­al lev­el.

The company’s mis­sion is to bring air mobil­i­ty to urban cen­tres and beyond by design­ing and man­ag­ing ver­ti­ports.
