Whisper Aero Hold Opening Ceremony for New Flight Test Centre
eVTOL company, Whisper Aero, a company co-Founded by Mark Moore, held a ceremony this week to open its Flight Test Centre, located at Crossville Memorial Airport, Tennessee, reports a press release.
The construction of this new 8,000 sq ft hangar has been made possible via a USD1.2 million appropriation from the State of Tennessee. The building should commence later this year with intended completion by early 2024.
Those in attendance included Tennessee Speaker of the House, Cameron Sexton; City of Crossville Mayor, RJ Crawford; Tennessee Department of Transportation, Director of Aeronautics, John-Paul Saalwaechter; and LaunchTN Chief Investment Officer, Monique Villa. The Test Centre will feature high bay areas for Whisper to test and integrate its propulsion system on future aircraft as well as office spaces for onsite engineering.
Cameron Sexton commented, “This is another partnership with the state to help the city and to assist Whisper Aero to build something that’s very needed, that’s very unique, which hasn’t been done in Tennessee before.”
As part of the project, Whisper and the Crossville Airport, are collaborating to install high-power charging at this hangar for the next-generation aircraft that will utilise Whisper Aero’s propulsors.

The Centre will also provide additional space for Whisper’s growing team to engineer outside of its 8,000 sq ft engineering campus in Nashville and 40,000 sq ft manufacturing and ground facility in downtown Crossville.
Ian Villa, co-Founder and COO of Whisper Aero, explained, ”Crossville Memorial Airport is not just an airport. This is where we started a lot of the testing for our technology; it’s where we were actually able to integrate this in that hangar right there. And so this is a very special spot for us.”
