MD Aircraft Signs LOI for up to 40 MDA1 Aircraft with Solyu Company in South Korea

MD Aircraft GmbH today announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Solyu Company, Ltd., a South Korea-based aviation and technology company headquartered in Seoul, Korea.

The Letter of Intent outlines Solyu’s intention to acquire 20 MDA1 aircraft, with options for an additional 20 units. Upon successful completion, the MDA1 aircraft are expected to support regional passenger transport operations and sustainable mobility initiatives throughout South Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Andrew Claerbout, President of Solyu Company, said: “This Letter of Intent represents an important milestone in our strategy to advance sustainable aviation globally.

The MDA1 combines operational efficiency, environmental responsibility, and regional connectivity in a way that aligns with our vision for the future of air transportation. We look forward to working closely with MD Aircraft as the program progresses toward certification and entry into service.“

The MDA1 eViatorTM is a nine-passenger, all-electric regional aircraft offering zero-emission operations, lower operating costs, rapid battery exchange capability, and short takeoff and landing performance.

The aircraft is intended to provide an environmentally friendly alternative for regional air transportation, particularly in underserved and remote communities.

With the signing of the Solyu LOI, MD Aircraft continues to expand its international order pipeline and strengthen its position as a leading developer of next-generation electric regional aircraft.

Gregor Müller, CEO of MD Aircraft GmbH, said: “We are delighted to welcome Solyu as one of our launch customers in Asia. South Korea is a highly innovative market with strong ambitions in advanced air mobility and sustainable transportation.

“Solyu’s confirmed interest in purchasing up to 40 aircraft demonstrates growing confidence in the MDA1 platform and its ability to transform regional aviation through zero-emission operations.”

MD Aircraft GmbH is a German aerospace company dedicated to developing zero emission, quiet, cost-efficient electric aircraft for Regional Air Mobility. MD Aircraft is part of the MD Group including MD Flugzeugbau GmbH and MD Composites Technologies GmbH which has over 30 years’ experience designing, building, and certifying composite aircraft — a decade with electric propulsion.

MD Aircraft’s flagship program, the MDA1 eViator, will redefine regional air mobility. Initial flight tests are
anticipated in 2028 with commercial certification and entry into service to follow.

Solyu is a global aircraft lessor focused on providing customers with the newest technology, zero-emissions aircraft, and highly versatile turboprops.
