PLANA partners with Gloria Aviation to train AAM talents
PLANA has partnered with Gloria Aviation to develop a joint business and train AAM industry talent at a ceremony held at PLANA’s Icheon R&D centre, which was attended by major stakeholders from both companies, including Jinmo Lee, CPO of PLANA, and Dae-hyun Shin, CEO of Gloria Aviation.
Maintenance and repair of aircraft is one of the essential elements for a safe and accurate operation, which requires competence that combines accumulated data on aircraft, information on aircraft, and maintenance know-how.
PLANA and Gloria Aviation plan to contribute to the development of the domestic AAM industry by sharing manpower and technology needed for developing and operating AAM aircraft.
They will establish an education program and qualification standards for AAM aviation workers, and conduct research and development on maintenance and operation methods, and will also start working on the AAM Air Operator Certificate (AOC) standards.
AOC is a system that verifies whether an aviation operator has the necessary personnel, facilities, equipment, and maintenance support system for a safe flight.
“The aviation industry is facing a major technological turning point with the introduction of electric aircraft, and like electric vehicles, electric aircraft will become an easily accessible mode of transportation for the general public within a few decades,” said Dae-hyun Shin, CEO of Gloria Aviation.
Jinmo Lee, CPO of PLANA, added: “We expect that PLANA’s hybrid aircraft will contribute to the stabilisation of electric aircraft by providing a technical buffer during the conversion process to pure electric power.
“Through this agreement, we will be able to train manpower and technology that are the most important factors in the aviation industry. We will continue to contribute to the growth and activation of the AAM market and strive to build a competitive AAM ecosystem at home and abroad.”
Gloria Aviation is a global aviation company that contributes to aviation safety and the efficiency of the aviation industry through its education businesses, such as Korea Aviation College and Gloria Flight Academy for training aviation professionals, MRO business, forest fire suppression, and VIP transport helicopter rental business, including Doctor Helicopter health, education, maintenance and support (HEMS), a UAM infrastructure support business, Cessna authorised service centre, and operation of Garmin Asia centre.
In May, PLANA entered into a business partnership with Moviation, a local UAM service startup that introduced its urban air mobility service platform Vonaer in February, to offer extra services such as booking air vehicles, linking with ground transportation services, and running lounges.
